  6. I know this is a couple of years old but what a great video. Thanks for sharing this. I am disabled and would never have the opportunity to hike something like that. It is something that really bothers me. Not being able to go and experience such beauty.

Who prepared that trail ? It has so many areas that have been prepped with rocks & rails & bridges and such . So I wonder who would have done all of that ?

Also , do you happen to know what geological event [s] caused all those large flat rocks to break apart like they are? Is it still occuring ? I mean was it glacier related or rather as a result of the mountain being thrust upward ?

Just one of my many curiosities.

  7. Wonderful video! Great memories for me. Hiked it twice.
I'll never understand why anyone with a real fear of heights would attempt this hike. I saw a few of them on the trail and it was just odd. Don't torture yourself.
Tons of great backpacks in the Sierra that keep you at ground level.

  8. geez, thank you man, utube popped your vid and im intrigued before my first hike in us.eventually wanna climb up to denali.but gotta start somewhere.

  9. Outstanding presentation ๐Ÿ‘

  10. Excellent video! You hit it right, mentally section it off. Pace yourself. The last 1.9 miles on the trail Crest is a boulder scramble, very tough, more than I expected. But can be done so and easy!. I'm 66 and just summited Whitney 9.21.18 it was a one day up and back from the portal. Will do again next year when I do the JMT.

  11. I summited yesterday !!! YAY !!! But felt very confident on what to expect thanks to this video. Thank you for providing such a great service to the hiking community!!! On to C2C !!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Why does Mt. Rainier seems so much more difficult and taller yet is actually smaller. On Mt. Rainier ur above the clouds yet here ur below. Can someone please explain?

  15. Successfully summited Mt. Whitney thanks in part to this video.

  16. I love your vids! I may never make it to the top of Whitney, but I live vicariously through my kids, who have๐Ÿ˜† it sounds like you hike in the San Gabriel's, my name is tree, I Volenteer at Grassy hollow visitors center, please if you ever join us, introduce yourself!

  17. Great video. I may have to use your tip to deal with fear of heights!

  18. Awesome video, great hikers.

  19. Thank you for the information. I did the day hike route several times 40 years ago. I am thinking about taking my time and taking a low power ham morse code radio up there and cutting loose. The more I educate myself about Lightening, the more doable this gets. ALL the tech routes of 5.7 were well within my abilities 40 years ago, that was than this is now, hiking route fine. I will see about getting Whitney registered the SOTA Summets on the Air radio program. Still a fantasy, but it might happen.

  20. Thanks a lot, awesome video, just what I need it ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. No T shirt? Shit, I'd rather stay at a nice hotel with room service close to air conditioned shopping.

  22. Very informative, much thanks for helping me prep. Special thank you for picking up litter. Pack it in, pack it out, people.

  23. Thanks for the great info. I am so amazed that you did this in one day. Did you get altitude sickness? How much training did you do?

  24. nice presentation with that airial view !

  25. Interesting seeing the views hiking up. My only Whitney trip was a week-long from Onion Valley, so I only saw the views hiking down the portal trail. One correction; in the opening scene you point to Lone Pine Peak (Whitney is out of sight behind your head).
